Afro-Costa Rican SoulSync: A Path to Wellness, Kulture & Konnection are events for folks of African Descent aged 55 and above, who bring wisdom, resilience, and cultural pride, seeking opportunities for wellness, connection, and the celebration of their heritage
GOALS
Build community among Black elders through cultural and wellness-focused events.
Inspire healthy aging through engaging discussions and hands-on fun activities.
Participants will experience the joys of Afro-Caribbean and Afro-Costa Rican culture and connection.
Opportunity to meet like-minded people, build relationships, and foster a sense of belonging.

PROJECT
Our project, Afro-Costa Rican SoulSync: A Path to Wellness, Kulture & Konnection, is a series of three engaging events for members of the Black community aged 55 and older. These events will promote wellness, cultural connection, and social engagement through activities that celebrate the richness of Afro-Costa Rican and Afro-Caribbean culture and honor our common African heritage.
Participants will
Explore Afro-Costa Rican culture, including wellness practices inspired by "Blue Zone" principles.
Engage in community dialogue about wellness, travel, and building stronger connections.
Enjoy music, food, poetry, and performances that celebrate Afro-Caribbean heritage.
Participate in fun interactive activities that focus on healthy living and relationship building,
Experience & Ability
IAK Costa Rica has extensive experience serving Black communities, particularly through programs that focus on cultural connection and wellness. Our past initiatives include organizing cultural immersion experiences and community dialogues that emphasize heritage, travel, and self-expression.
